This little fellow is another who can be bashful. They will tolerate you after a little while if you sit still and wait. They can be very interesting to watch. I have shot them while feeding and have seen them bring up crayfish almost as large as they are then gulp them down. They have young in the spring here at the refuge. They stay almost year round. They were gone for about 3 months during hottest part of the summer.

After completing high school I went to sea. Worked my way up to Captain. I have worked and photographed many places throughout the world. I took an interest in photography 1984, while working in California. Over the next 6 years I took 2 correspondence courses and 2 college classes to better my skills. Digital has helped me improve my techniques as well as open up new horizons. I am looking at new areas I never before had an interest. I shoot nature, landscapes, macro, and wildlife. I hope to soon explore people photography. God has always been a part of my life since I was a child. He has carried me through many hard times and has always brought me home again. In Him is all my trust.
